Level Up Your Solo Show Setup

Steal My Exact Solo-Show Gear Checklist - Free for a Limited Time

Stop guessing. This is the stage-ready setup I use at 50+ gigs a year — tested, streamlined, and built to sound like a full band.

Inside you’ll see:

  • The mixer I trust to run tracks, vocals, and lights without crashing.

  • The cable type that avoids hum and dropouts.

  • My DIY crank-up stand hack that saves setup time and back strain.

  • A simple rig flow that scales from a bar gig to a wedding show.

Let’s get to it!

You play an instrument?

You need that instrument.

You need a stand for the instrument

You need connecting and power cords.

If you’re not proficient enough with that instrument to sound decent, you can still perform. You can fill in with backing tracks. I use Jamzone, and the subscription is around $10/month.

You sing?

You need a decent microphone. Expect to pay $100ish for something decent and durable. More for a wireless mic.

You should consider vocal effects, and the cords to connect whichever device you have chosen.

You need to amplify these things.

You need a mixer, or a way to consolidate the signals and have the ability to control volumes individually, then send the mixed signal to a speaker for your audience to hear.

Old school is a powered mixer, or independent amplifiers, to passive speakers.

Modern tech uses active speakers (built in amplifiers). - recommended.

You need a way to haul your gear to a gig.

Make sure your stuff fits into whatever vehicle you use.

These are the basic things one would need to perform at a show. The price range for this basic setup can be, for everything necessary, anywhere from $400-$500, to $10,000 easily.
